Christopher Olaes

Captain Christopher Batuhan Olaes, a native of San Diego, California, is a 1988 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Transportation, serving as a Surface Warfare Officer on ships. Captain Olaes retired from the Navy Reserve on July 1, 2018 after 30 years of commissioned service.

He is a Vessel Planner for Long Beach Container Terminal and Orient Overseas Container Line in the Port of Long Beach, responsible for planning the discharge and loading of various classes of containerships in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. He is responsible for ensuring efficient use of manpower, effective use of heavy machinery, proper cargo stowage and optimal vessel stability. Captain Olaes serves as an Outside Director on the Board of Directors and Government Security Committee of San Diego-based D3 Technologies, Inc., since May 2017. Captain Olaes resides in Long Beach, CA.
